Views On Tourism is now on LinkedIn!

Bangladeshi tourism players are generally quite good at face to face networking, but why not take these skills to a higher level? An acknowledged successful tourism strategy is to enhance cooperation between the many tourism players national, regional and international. Based on my experience, and input from several local tourism players, I believe the Bangladeshi tourism could gain alot by encreasing cooperation between the many different players in the industry. My new ‘Views On Tourism’ project is hence to draw attention to an efficient network tool.

LinkedIn is an online interconnected network of more than 39 million experienced professionals from around the world. Last time I checked over 90.000 professional members were related to tourism and more than 11.000 members were linked to Bangladesh. Through LinkedIn you can easily find, be introduced to, and collaborate with qualified professionals that you need to work with to accomplish your goals.
If you are not yet a LinkedIn member I request you to go to www.linkedin.com and become one. When a member, start filling in your professional profile and build your network.

LinkedIn members have the option to join a large number of professional groups, at the moment there are 537 tourism groups and 125 Bangladeshi groups. In these groups members can get together to discuss and network on specific topics.

I proudly invite you to become a member of the new group ‘Views On Tourism – Bangladeshi network and discussion’, which as far as I know is the first professional online group for the Bangladeshi tourism sector. The potential of this network group is huge! Imagine a Bangladeshi network where members can interact, national as well international, to exchange views, find new employees, develop sustainable destinations, start up innovative products or launch investment possibilities.

If interested, please follow the link to read more about the group Views On Tourism – Bangladeshi network and discussion , here you can also become a member of both LinkedIn and the group.

The future development of the Views On Tourism group depends largely on the numbers of members, their profile, network and involvement. I would appreciate if you help me spread the word about the Views On Tourism LinkedIn group to your network interested in the Bangladeshi tourism sector.
I furthermore recomend you to read the blog article ‘The complexity of tourism – and what to do about it’, which provides an outline on the many players involved in the tourism industry, why networking is crusial to this industry and how to improve your networking skills.

dear Majbritt, u diserve a medal… … u posted this on June 22 09… let me compliment u first and for all.

Lived in Dhaka at Sonargoan Hotel for 2 years with my family and was General Manager at that Urban City Resort. Carry great memories of those days … it was my first introduction to Asia [by birth I am Belgian - by passpoet Canadian and am a resident of the United States of America... Hotelier by "Passion for Service and the language of Hospitality].
Might have staed longer than 2 years … regretfully the environment was not condusive for business and lagen with internal strife on many levels… I have never been back [1987 through 1989]… Mr. Abu Hena was secretary of Tourism and I remeber him as a soft spoken individual with a great focus on the job at hand.

Not sure in all these years since – and I travel the world has anyone ever walked upto me and said … “we had fabulous vacation in Bangladesh… ”

Hoving said all this… how can we assist Majbritt?
    with warm regards,

    jan
